Open-world games are increasingly gaining popularity, and for Tymon Smektala, creative director of Dying Light 2, developers should focus on immersion rather than the size of the already huge open worlds.
“I don't think people really need bigger worlds, they need better, more immersive worlds,” said the director.
Tymon Smektala said it is not difficult for the current generation to create huge worlds and that map size no longer affects game performance.
“What affects performance is the number of NPCs around them, their variety, how they behave, and the number of animations,” explained Smektala.
“This is basically our Techland mission as a studio. We want to create first-person open worlds with high-quality, immersive graphics, feeling the environment the game is in, ”added the director of Dying Light 2 during the interview for the GamingBolt
